That ๐Ÿ‘†was the catch cry today amongst triathletes โ€“ AND โ€“ trail runners as they crossed the finish line to gloryโ€ฆ

And as a bunch of Viccos we almost have to agree (reluctantly ๐Ÿ˜‚).

This place certainly is something specialโ€ฆ

And today it played host to even MORE spicy racing in Day 2 of XTERRA Dunsborough. Not in one race, not in two but in THREE separate off-road spectacles.

The first to start was the 21km Trail Run โ€“ a new addition for this yearโ€™s XTERRA Dunsborough โ€“ and the โ€œnew kid on the blockโ€ for the Global XTERRA Trail Running Series.

With plenty of talent in the field, the pace was on from the gun. So much so that after just 01:32:20 of racing, North Face athlete Dave Byrne stormed home in a dominant win.

Not long after, in the females, Arian Huston took out the title in a furious sprint finish with Claire Oโ€™Brien-Smith, who came home in 2nd.

๐—๐“๐„๐‘๐‘๐€ ๐‹๐Ž๐๐† ๐‚๐Ž๐”๐‘๐’๐„ ๐“๐‘๐ˆ

The next race to unleash on Geographe Bay was the XTERRA Long Course event โ€“ arguably the flagship of the XTERRA disciplines.

In the womenโ€™s, you could almost throw a blanket over the top 5 all day. But, in the end, Lizzie Orchard stretched her early lead to take a convincing win, followed by Hannah Lee-Young and then Jacqui Allen.

In the menโ€™s, Ben Forbes came out of the swim with some catching up to do. But, as he unleashed his explosive, one-two punch of MTB-and-run, he quickly showed the entire field a very clean set of heels to come home over 16 minutes ahead of second!

Finally, in the 10km Trail Run, it was no surprise who took the overall wins โ€“ TWO more North Face representatives โ€“ Blake Hose in the menโ€™s and Alex West in the womenโ€™s.

A huge THANK YOU to ALL racers in ALL disciplines and ALL age groups across the weekend. Each and every one of you had your own battles (against man and/or nature) and displayed a mind-boggling level of athleticism.

Whether you were at the pointy end of your age group fighting it out for a state title, cruising along in the middle and soaking up the scenery, or chipping away at the back โ€“ you can all look back very proudly on a weekend well spent!

An ace in paradiseโ€ฆ

Itโ€™s not every year that mother nature blesses us with pristine blue skies, mild temperatures and crystal-clear water for XTERRA weekend โ€“ But it sure as heck happened today!

The only thing better than the conditions were you legends out on course and in the cheer squads. You made it a day for the memory banks!

A special mention to the kids who stormed Meelup Regional Park with GUSTO this afternoon. Itโ€™s awesome to see a new crop of extraordinarily talented youngsters coming through the ranks at warp speed.

Thereโ€™s still a HEAP of action to come tomorrow with the 10km Trail Run, 21km Trail Run โ€“ AND โ€“ XTERRA Long Course Triathlon to come.

If youโ€™re racing โ€“ good luck!

XTERRA Dunsborough kicked off with a bang at 9:30am today with the Short Course triathlonโ€ฆ

And we can safely say the event more than lived up to its slogan, โ€œrace through paradiseโ€. (Can you picture better conditions than these?!).

XTERRA Dunsborough kicked off with a bang at 9:30am today with the Short Course triathlonโ€ฆ And we can safely say the event more than lived up to its slogan, โ€œrace through paradiseโ€. There was some serious talent out there today. THANK YOU to ALL participants and supporter for making the morning an epic one. As always, there was a huge amount of grit and determination out there (some riders even ran several kms with their bikes after mechanical issues!), and the vibes on the sidelines have been second to none! XTERRA Dunsborough is kicking off bright and early tomorrow and weโ€™ve got some good newsโ€ฆ

This is STILL one of the most stunning places in Australia! (Maybe even more so with the sublime weather weโ€™ve been having.)

WEATHER:

Weather is forecast to be perfect (again) tomorrow โ€“ Sunny and 24 degrees. Make sure you slip, slop, slap and make a hydration plan!

WETSUITS:

Wear โ€˜em if you want! But budgie smugglers are also encouraged. Water temp should be about 21 degrees so you canโ€™t go wrong either way ๐Ÿ‘Œ
